Who We Are
Twitter University helps engineers onboard to Twitter culture and technologies and provides ongoing education for engineers. We are a means for individual engineers to level up and provide a forum for teams to educate their peers on tools, technologies, and best practices. We drive technical education throughout Twitter Engineering. In addition to teaching classes University staff mentor content matter experts from across the org to provide classes in their areas of expertise and assist in content development, classroom instruction, and developing offline educational resources.
Popular classes currently offered through University include programming languages (Python, Scala), microservice development (Finatra), internal technologies (Pants, Aurora, Manhattan), Machine Learning, Data Science, and classes about about various parts of the Twitter platform and technology stack.
What You’ll Do
In this position you will learn and teach engineers to understand and use our technologies more effectively.
Develop a good understanding of internal technologies and systems.
Conduct regular training in areas of interest to the internal engineering population.
Develop courseware, slides, sample code, screencasts, and tutorials.
Mentor engineers in class development & teaching skills.
Participate in software development tasks with the University team.
Create, modify, and improve sample code.
Who You Are
We’re looking for a talented technical instructor to join Twitter University, the technical instruction team at Twitter. From intelligent build systems and distributed databases to resource schedulers and service frameworks, engineers at Twitter work with the latest technologies to deliver great experiences to millions of users every day.
Successful candidates have a background in software development. They should be outstanding at understanding and explaining new technologies and frameworks to others, communicate well, learn quickly, and be able to write and work with sample code in a variety of programming languages. They should have a passion for teaching and previous successful experience conducting technical training/mentoring for engineers.
BS/BA or equivalent work experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience in software development
Proficiency with common software development tools and skills: git, bash, plain text markup languages, scripting.
Two+ years of experience conducting technical training/mentoring for software developers
Experience developing for the JVM ecosystem (Java and Scala)
Proficiency with Machine Learning and Data Science
